UCA WINES
Located in the western Algarve, the 27 hectares of the UCA vineyards benefit from the freshness of the sea and a privileged proximity to the natural richness of the Alvor estuary.
From the same family who produces the Arvad wine, and guided by the award-winning winemaker Bernardo Cabral, the UCA Wines are all about freshness and low alcohol content, focusing on production with minimal intervention practices and ecological production methods.
Produced in clay-limestone soil, UCA Violinista wines utilize irrigation monitoring probes that measure water stress, allowing watering only when necessary. Taking advantage of various synergies, the vines are also flanked by rose bushes to attract pollinating insects, which is also an excellent indicator for disease control. During the vines' dormancy periods, goats graze among the vineyards, helping to control weeds and allowing for natural soil fertilization, further contributing to the Alvor region remaining a haven for wildlife and a driving force for the local economy.
Beyond its cultural significance, dating back to the earliest traces of the Neolithic period, the Alvor estuary is also a true sanctuary for wildlife, with salt marshes, swamps, dunes, and tidal channels that are the perfect habitat for various species of birds, fish, mollusks, and crustaceans.
